Dear all, The Moral Sciences Club is pleased to announce its programme of speakers for 2020-21, details of which you can find attached to this email.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Club will have to hold its meetings virtually for the foreseeable future. Whilst we are disappointed that this means we will not be able to see you all in person, we are incredibly excited about the opportunity this presents us with to host speakers from around the world. We hope you are just as excited about the programme as we are. For our first meeting of the academic year, we are delighted to welcome Professor Kwame Anthony Appiah (NYU) who will be speaking on 'The Philosophy of Work', the abstract is as follows: *A discussion of the changing ways in which work fits into the main ethical project: making a life. Globalization and automation are seen as posing challenges for many kinds of workers. What--if anything- can philosophy say about the appropriate social response?* The meeting will be held on the 13th October from 2:30 - 4:15pm BST, you can join us on Zoom via: https://zoom.us/j/98343588455 (Meeting ID: 983 4358 8455).
