Dear members of linguistic sub-communities,

In the next session of the Meaning Reading Group, we will follow up on our 
discussion of hermeneutical impasses by focusing on another conflict in 
understanding - namely: semantic contestations. We will be joined by Deborah 
Mühlebach to discuss her exciting paper "Semantic contestations and the meaning 
of politically significant terms". There, she develops an inferentialist model 
of dominant and resistant discursive sub-communities, which aims to explain 
"the connections between political contestation, verbal derogation, and 
semantics" in cases of contentious terms such as 'black'.
