Dear all, I am writing to share with you what we have planned for the Verstehen Colloquium this term. For those of you who do not not know, the Verstehen Colloquium is a group that meets regularly to read and discuss texts, principally from the phenomenological and hermeneutic traditions, that offer ways of thinking about the nature of knowledge of human behaviour and systems which have perhaps become obscure from the perspective of current "analytic" philosophy of science (see our page on the Philosophy Faculty website for more information: https://www.phil.cam.ac.uk/seminars-phil/verstehen-colloquium <https://www.phil.cam.ac.uk/seminars-phil/verstehen-colloquium>).
Following on from our previous studies of Dilthey, Merleau-Ponty and Husserl, in the coming weeks we will be reading Truth and Method by Hans-Georg Gadamer. Our regular meeting slot is 2-3.30pm on Mondays; however, our first session next week will be on Tuesday 12th May, 4-5.30pm, when we will begin by reading Part I, chapter 1, section 1 of the text. We will be working from the Continuum Impacts (Bloomsbury) edition. If you are interested in attending the sessions this term, please email Sen (sb2276) to be put onto our mailing list, and to receive an invite to the Cisco Webex meeting for next week’s session. Please also let us know if you are having trouble accessing the text. With best wishes, Rosie Worsdale (CRASSH), Matt Bennett (Philosophy) and Sen Bhuvanendra (Philosophy) _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: https://lists.cam.ac.uk/pipermail/phil-events/ Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
