Dear All, There is an event titled 'Myth: Philosophy and Politics' in Downing College (Wilkins Room, R Staircase) this Sunday (November 17th) at 7pm, organised by Philiminality Cambridge.
There will be 4 speakers: Philo Trudelle (Downing College) will be speaking about transgender and non-binary people, and commonly believed myths about transitioning perpetuated by the media; David Sedley (Faculty of Classics) will be speaking about the role of myth in Plato; Rory Kent (Department of History and Philosophy of Science) will give a talk about Sorel's attitude to Marxism as a 'myth' which sparks revolutionary action; and Ryan Haecker (Faculty of Divinity) will be giving a talk entitled 'Schelling's Philosophy of Mythology: Productive Traces of the Eternal Past'. Each speaker will give a brief talk, and then there will be a discussion. Here is a link to the Facebook event with all the details, and an accessibility statement. https://www.facebook.com/events/270268843907294/ Hope to see you there! Best wishes, Peter McLaughlin Philiminality is a Cambridge student-run platform for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary philosophy. We aim to discuss philosophical ideas, thinkers, and approaches which are frequently marginalised in both Anglo-American and “continental” academic circles. _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: https://lists.cam.ac.uk/pipermail/phil-events/ Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
