Dear all,

The next meeting of the Serious Metaphysics Group will take place on Wednesday,
November 13th at 4:30-6pm in the Philosophy Faculty Board Room. Kenny Walden
(Dartmouth) will give a talk entitled "Incomparable numbers”, see below for an
abstract.

Hope to see many of you there!

Abstract:

I give an argument that human beings have a value that forbids comparisons. I
then work out one consequence of this claim in the context of a particular
ethical problem--the "Numbers Problem". If my claim is correct then many of the
popular "solutions" to the Numbers Problem are morally defective.

All the best,
Benjamin
