Dear all, This is an introduction for new students, and reminder for everyone, about the Minorities and Philosophy Cambridge Chapter.
We are part of a network of chapters in universities across the UK and US. Minorities and Philosophy aims to examine and address issues of minority participation in academic philosophy. We broadly aim to address (a) minority issues in the profession, (b) theoretical issues regarding philosophy of gender, race, sexual orientation, class, disability, native language, etc, and (c) platform philosophy done from minority perspectives. Last year our events included hosting talks, mentoring and mental health workshops, a panel discussion on sexual harassment in academia, and our annual conference, where we had faculty and student speakers on the theme of “Philosophy for Liberation”. If you would like to get involved or keep abreast of the events we’re running this year, please feel free to join our mailing list (phil-...@lists.cam.ac.uk). We also have a Facebook page where we publicise our events and encourage discussion (Cambridge Minorities and Philosophy). Our events are open to all. We will be having a welcome meeting next Tuesday (15th October), 3.30-5PM - Room to be confirmed. Please come along, meet the organisers and other students, and discuss ideas for the coming year! Our term card will be publicised shortly. Additionally, if anyone would like to get involved as an organiser this year, please get in touch with either myself (asc63) or Rory Kent (rdk32). Many thanks, Azita Chellappoo PhD student History & Philosophy of Science Department _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
