_Abstract: Smart Machines and a Reverse Turing Test_ Is the goal of AI to create smart machines or artificial colleagues? The distinction is of great importance, but the grounds for drawing it have been confused by forces that distort our imagination. Several sources of misdirection are innocently hidden in Alan Turing’s initial description of the Imitation Game, now known as the Turing Test. Once these confusions are exposed, we can explore steps that might maintain bright lines between tools, tool-makers, and tool-users, as part of the policy innovations required to preserve the integrity of inquiry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Conference: Kinds of Intelligence 2.0: Machine Minds* 19 - 21 June 2019 Newnham College, Cambridge *Tickets sales (**booking closes on 8 June):* https://bit.ly/2ElsZte <http://kindsofintelligence.com/> (Concession fee available) Day 1 - Wednesday 19 June: Consciousness in the age of deep learning Day 2 - Thursday 20 June: Generality and intelligence in animals and AI Day 3 - Friday 21 June: Artificial Intelligence and intelligence augmentation A detailed schedule can be found here: http://kindsofintelligence.com/ -- photo *Judith Weik* Research Project Administrator, CRASSH 01223 760488 <tel:01223 760488> | jw...@cam.ac.uk <mailto:jw...@cam.ac.uk> | www.crassh.cam.ac.uk <http://www.crassh.cam.ac.uk> | University of Cambridge, Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DT _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
