Dear All,

This is a reminder that the final meeting of the Moral Sciences Club this
academic year will be held on Tuesday 22 May. We are delighted to welcome
Rachael Wiseman (Liverpool), who will be giving a paper entitled "Being
naïve about humans and animals". The abstract is below:

I will propose that we ought not to think of ourselves as *persons
*but as *living
human bodies. *I will explain what that means and will present the 'ought'
as ethical rather than (or perhaps as well as) epistemic. I will talk about
Anscombe, Wittgenstein and Murdoch (among others).

*Please note that we will meet earlier than usual. The photography for the
annual Club photograph is due to start at 1.50 pm, so we ask that members
who wish to be in the photograph meet at the gardens of Newnham College by
1.40 pm. This is to allow enough time for photography before the Club's
Annual General Meeting starts in the Jane Harrison Room at 2.10 pm.*

Rachael's paper will begin, as usual, at 2.30 pm and will be followed by
questions until 4.15 pm. This is currently scheduled for the Jane Harrison
Room at Newnham College, and will be followed by tea and coffee.

If you would will be attending the talk and would like to join us for
dinner afterwards, please email the Club secretaries by no later than noon
on Monday 21 May.

Best wishes,

--
