Dear all, This Thursday, Hugh Mellor will be talking at Serious Metaphysics Group on "Properties of Chances" (abstract below). As usual, the talk will run in the Faculty Board Room from 1-2.30pm.
All welcome! Feel free to bring your lunch. Best, Dan. ABSTRACT: "Properties of Chances" I’m going to talk about chances, i.e. probabilities of the kind postulated by empirical theories in microphysics, genetics, evolution, epidemiology and other natural sciences. I’m going to say how I think they differ from other probabilities, what they explain, whether they’re compatible with determinism, how they’re measured, what they're properties of, and what kind of properties they are – questions whose answers aren’t all immediately obvious. -- Daniel Williams PhD Candidate in Philosophy Email: [email protected] Trinity Hall, Cambridge _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
