Dear Researcher,
What are you going to do after your PhD?
While this can seem a long way ahead, how quickly has your first
year gone for you?
Are you getting the most out of the many opportunities available
here at Cambridge to help you with your post-PhD career?
To help you begin to answer these questions and kick-start managing your
career, the Careers Service with the Schools of the Arts, Humanities and
Social Sciences are running a series of events for their doctoral
students in the early stages of their PhD.
The first session is an introduction to career management, for careers
in academia and beyond.
The sessions purpose is to help you develop an overview of the steps
you can take to develop your employability alongside your PhD research
using some of the many opportunities available to you while at Cambridge.
*The session is on Monday 23rd May in the Institute for Criminology Room
B3 (basement).* Because your time is precious, the session is intensive
and only 2 hours long, *10am-12pm*.
*To book*, please go to:
http://www.careers.cam.ac.uk/notice/SessionText.asp?Code=9067&TermData=Easter&YearData=2016
This session will be followed by a smaller scale workshop (3 dates to
choose from) where you will have the opportunity:
·to assess where you currently are in terms of your employability for
the academic, and wider job markets;
·how to reflect this in your CV (academic and non-academic);
·to develop an outline plan for developing your employability further
over the next 12 months.
·Additional sessions are planned for 2016/17 where you will have the
chance to access your progress and develop your career plan for the
later years of your PhD in more detail.
·Booking information to follow soon.
