Dear all, This Thursday at the Serious Metaphysics Group, Heather Dyke will be speaking on 'Evolutionary Explanations of Temporal Experience' (abstract below). We will meet in the philosophy faculty board room from 1:00-2:30.
Hope to see you there, Georgie Evolutionary Explanations of Temporal Experience Heather Dyke and James Maclaurin Abstract We begin with an overview of evolutionary explanations, distinguishing three different kinds: adaptations, exaptations and spandrels. We then examine four features of temporal experience, and suggest some plausible evolutionary explanations for them. Finally, we consider the implications of these evolutionary explanations for the veridicality of these temporal experiences, and for the truth-value of folk beliefs about time that are based on them. -- Georgie Statham PhD Candidate Faculty of Philosophy University of Cambridge _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
