Dear all,
The last meeting of the Serious Metaphysics Group will be on Wednesday
11th June at 11am in the philosophy faculty board room. Our speaker is
Jennifer Hornsby (Birkbeck) who will be giving a talk entitled
'Perception: from phenomenology to epistemology _via_ metaphysics'
(abstract below).
We'll be taking Prof Hornsby out for lunch afterwards - do let me know
if you'd like to come so I know about numbers.
Hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
Mat
Jennifer Hornsby - Perception: from phenomenology to epistemology _via_
metaphysics:
"Those who endorse something that might be called 'a causal theory of
perception' presumably make a claim in metaphysics. Insofar as it's a
metaphysical claim, it depends upon a view about causality. But I'll
suggest that if it's a defensible claim, then it might (a) be rested in
phenomenology and (b) have repercussions for epistemology."
