------------------------------------------------------------------------ To all who may be interested, I am looking to establish a Charles Darwin Society within the University. I envision the Society providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of papers on the life and work of Darwin, as well as on subjects in the history and philosophy of biology and the natural sciences relating to Darwin's work. The Society would also, I hope, stimulate wider interest in, and appreciation of, Darwin and his work. To form an Executive Committee, the roles of Secretary and Treasurer would need to be fulfilled, so if you would like to fulfill either of these roles, or if you think you may be interested in presenting a paper or attending the meetings of the Society, please email me ([email protected]), ideally by Monday 16 June, as then we could arrange to meet together before the end of term. Also, it may be a good idea to construct a website for the Society, in which case we would require someone willing to make and maintain a website. And if you know others who may be interested, please tell them and invite them to contact me if they wish. I think that the Society could be very exciting, promoting scholarly work and interest in a remarkable man and his influence on human thought. I look forward very much to hearing from those of you who would like to be involved.
