ABSTRACT:
I will offer an exposition and defense of Wittgenstein's hyper-deflationary
views about how traditional theoretical philosophizing inevitably goes
wrong and about what should be done instead. Special attention will be
given to: (i) why the same alleged defects don’t afflict the sciences, (ii)
whether his anti-theoretical position is itself theoretical, hence
inconsistent, and (iii) the character of his 'linguistic turn'.
