You want to use OSProcess.

Load OSProcess from the configuration browser.

You can get environment variables like this:

dirString:= OSProcess thisOSProcess environment at: #PRJ_DIR.

Example:

command := 'tac ', file fullName, ' | head -200'.
output := ''.
[
c :=  (PipeableOSProcess command: command).
output := c output.
] ensure: [ c closePipes ].

 Or check for all references for PipeableOSProcess, there are a ton.

Do not forget the closePipes or you'll run out of resources at one point.
