I've been looking at implementing table spaces for 7.5. Some notes and implementation details follow.
Ah sorry, other things you might need to consider:
Privileges on tablespaces:
GRANT USAGE ON TABLESPACE tbsp TO ...;
Different disk settings for different tablespaces (since they will likely be on different disks):
ALTER TABLESPACE tbsp SET random_page_cost TO 2.5;
