Almost all operations of ControlFileLock is in LW_EXCLUSIVE, but there is one usage of LWLockConditionalAcquire(ControlFileLock, LW_SHARED) in XLogNeedsFlush(). > The attached patch changes the lock mode which pg_start_backup() > uses.
