The decision to add the magic "99/100" number was made without any such analysis either, and I can assure you it has caused lots of real-world problems. Going from 10 to 100 adds a small amount of planner overhead. The 99/100 change adds an order of magnitude speed difference to SELECT queries. I still cannot see that as anything other than a major performance regression. - -- Greg Sabino Mullane [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP Key: 0x14964AC8 200802032259 http://biglumber.com/x/web?pk=2529DF6AB8F79407E94445B4BC9B906714964AC8 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iD8DBQFHpo3jvJuQZxSWSsgRA61dAJ4hglXzi/EQT08j/NSWl8UeqI9CigCcDxSs ob//pk7+jTCWPKlssAYKmy8= =VKhG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ---------------------------(end of broadcast)--------------------------- TIP 1: if posting/reading through Usenet, please send an appropriate subscribe-nomail command to [EMAIL PROTECTED] so that your message can get through to the mailing list cleanly
