This was a bit confused ... as submitted, the patch wanted to commit
a couple of patchfiles. I sorted it out I believe, and pushed with
a little additional fiddling of my own.
I did not commit the reindentation of existing text --- I don't think
it's worth adding "git blame" noise for.
