It was my undestanding that this prompted us to form the release team, which has since done a great job of making sure that this does not happen again. Of course, this does not mean it won't ever happen again. Even then, shipping PostgreSQL 23 at the beginning of 2024 wouldn't be a total disaster in my opinion. The fact that the community might want to re-think the major release cycle at some point and not be tied to yearly release numbers is the most convincing argument against it.
