Hi Thomas, I was cleaning up my unfinished reviews and returned to this thread.
The patch is still relevant on current master. The original reproducer still grows the hash join from 8 to 16 and then 32 batches, while keeping the files from the previous generations until the end of the query. The patch needs a small rebase, but I do not see any change that would make the approach obsolete. Are you still interested in moving this forward? I can post a rebased version if useful.
