And here's another one. I've committed the first two patches from the previous set, the second of those just today, and so we're getting down to the meat of the patch set. 0001 adds "server" and "blackhole" as backup targets. It now has some tests. This might be more or less ready to ship, unless somebody else sees a problem, or I find one. 0002 adds server-side gzip compression. This one hasn't got tests yet.
