Google: postgresql editable views 9.3 The short answer from the search is that you can as-of 9.1 While no official pages come up the bulk of the links do make reference to using triggers to update views. Looking then at the documentation for CREATE TRIGGER http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/sql-createtrigger.html You will see that as of 9.1 INSTEAD OF triggers on views are possible.
