Here is an idea, but not sure how well it'll be accepted. Inside the cup, names of current/active developers/contributors, represented using tag/keyword cloud[1] form. Using a combination of code check-in count and importance of check-in, contributions on mailing lists, other factors to make it fair to dictate size of names[2].
On the outside of the mug, maybe a simple elephant mascot accompanying the simple words: "Genius Inside". --patrick p.s., This thread is quite distracting as it is fun to read.
