PostgreSQL gurus, I am in the process of writing a technical book featuring PostgreSQL (among other technologies). I would like to document the contents of the PGDATA directory. There are a few files there that I haven't been able to figure out. They are 'pg_logs' and 'pg_variables'. I can make an educated guess as to the contents, but I would prefer to hear from those in the know about what these files are used for.
