Hi!
Do you use GIST index?
According to 
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/12/rangetypes.html#RANGETYPES-INDEXING <@ 
operator is supported:
> A GiST or SP-GiST index can accelerate queries involving these range 
> operators: =, &&, <@, @>, <<, >>, -|-, &<, and &>
