Short Description Core dump on OpenBSD 2.7 using postgresql 7.1.3 Long Description Hi I cannot run postgresql on OpenBSD2.7 (i386).(more info further down) According to the INSTALL notes i should do this: -- ./configure gmake gmake install adduser postgres su - postgres /usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data /usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data >logfile 2>&1 & /usr/local/pgsql/bin/createdb test /usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql test -- Anyway, '.configure', 'gmake', 'gmake install', 'adduser postgres' and 'su postgres' works perfectly. But when i try to do the next step, '/usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data' , this happens: --- $ /usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data This database system will be initialized with username "postgres". This user will own all the data files and must also own the server process. Fixing permissions on existing directory /usr/local/pgsql/data Creating directory /usr/local/pgsql/data/base Creating directory /usr/local/pgsql/data/global Creating directory /usr/local/pgsql/data/pg_xlog Creating template1 database in /usr/local/pgsql/data/base/1 Bad system call (core dumped) initdb failed. Removing temp file /tmp/initdb.7973. --- I tried to install 'strace' to find out which system call that is bad, but strace does not have support for openBSD 2.7, so i could'nt compile (nor install) it. --- Anyway, a friend told me to submit this as a bug since it dumped a core. Hopefully this is to some use to you. It would be of interest to me if you find a solution to this, so please keep me informed.
