Subject: PgAgent job is not logging errors

Hi There,

We are using PGAgent for scheduling a job which is calling a batch program.(.sh)

The logic of the batch program is to : Reload the postgres setting by using
pg_ctl reload command.

Batch program when run from the command prompt is causing the POSTGRES server
setting reloaded (i.e SIGHUP signal is sent to the server).

However when I include the same program in the Job step and run the Job from
PGAgent, the job status is shown as 'Successful' in the 'status' window for the
PGagent job but the SIGHUP signal is not sent to the server (This I verified by
checking the POSTGRES server log which logs a message when a SIGHUP signal is
sent to the server for reloading the settings, but in this case, no such
message is being written to the server log).

Issue:

Can you please let me know if PGAgent logs any errors if there are any issues
with the jobs executed.. Why is the job status shown as 'Successful' even
though nothing happened.

The details of the environment with which errors are logged are :

PGAgent version : pgAgent-3.0.0
PGAdmin : 1.12.1
PostgreSQL : 8.3

Thanks
Jahnavi
