You can select an existing server in the combo box at the top, and all the
connection info will be filled in for you to use/edit as you like. You can
also use it to connect to databases on an ad-hoc one off basis, without
registering them in the treeview.

We can probably make it so the welcome tab can be hidden - we already do
that for some of the other tabs.
