BREAKING: Proposed legislation to permit AT&T to end California
landlines has DIED for this session
The legislation apparently died in a State Senate committee by not being
passed by the legislative deadline. Of course, it could be reintroduced
in the next session, and the California Public Utilities Commission
proceedings that could ultimately have the same result (regarding
carrier of last resort, end of landlines, etc.) as the legislation are
still in progress.
But for now this is a win for the good guys -- the people of California.
