In the first group I'd have any device I wanted to SSH to, for example, along with any servers (if you have any), printers, etc. In the second would be anything else, such as phones and laptops, smart TVs, etc, as well as any guests you may have visiting. I'd have everything set individually to use DHCP, but use the DHCP server (eg my router) to configure static leases for everything in the first group and at addresses of my choosing, and leave everything else to the default. The only device I have on my home network with a static IP directly set in the device is the router itself. Everything else gets an address via DHCP, and about a quarter of them are set using static leases so they don't change with the rest as dynamic. -- Mark Rogers // More Solutions Ltd (Peterborough Office) // 0844 251 1450 Registered in England (0456 0902) 21 Drakes Mews, Milton Keynes, MK8 0ER
