Does it appear on the list of connected USB devices (ls usb) when plugged in and then powered on ? Not sure of the exact model, I took a Nexus 7 apart to replace a battery and no special tools were required. http://www.etradesupply.com/blog/how-to-disassemble-nexus-6-in-10-steps/http://www.etradesupply.com/blog/how-to-disassemble-nexus-6-in-10-steps/ is for something with the same name from a different vendor, you'll see if it's the same gadget or not. In terms of "carry in repairs" I have had good experience with the PC repair guys in Ink2Print in the Westgate Arcade - admittedly not with tablets. They'll give you a price before proceeding and tell you if it isn't economic or out of their scope. Phil
