http://www.linwik.com/dealing_with_uefi_on_linux may also help.

ISTR that Ubuntu went down the line of being secure boot compatible. Don't know
about Mint.

I've had plenty of installers land me at a grub prompt due to incompatible
arguments or unsupported graphics too.

Subject: [Peterboro] Installing LM17 on HP 250 G1 laptop For Judy: Update2

Hi all

Thank you Phil and Tony for the suggestions which look very interesting.

I also wonder if the BIOS needs updating. Unfortunately HP seem only to
let you do this from Windows, which is strange considering this is a
Ubuntu original installation.

I did find this link which if correct means it is possible to load
LM17.1:

http://www.linlap.com/hp_250_g1

I have arranged to pick up the laptop on Sunday and will do what I can
to get LM17.1 working before the LUG meeting but if I have no success I
will take the opportunity to bring it along for a collective think.

Cheers

Clive
