Wordpress is more prevalent in sheer numbers, I'm reading a review at http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9236648/Choosing_an_open_source_CMS_part_1_Why_we_use_Drupal which has parts covering Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla and some handy links to some extent what the site does may be a factor, wordpress seems very blog-orientated to me which may be a hangover feeling from past experience.
