no need for cross-over, the ports are auto-sensing.

The wireless and wired ethernet ports on routers are usually bridged
(but not always). So an ethernet cable from the LAN port of your main
router connected to a LAN port of the spare Netgear would get the signal
out there

BUT

you need to ensure the Netgear doesn't have the same LAN IP address as
the main router, and turn off its DHCP server - otherwise it'll give out
addresses and default gateways that cause issues.

You only want your main router in charge of addresses.
