In addition to the comments others have made, you can also look at things like leaky feeder cable: http://solwise.co.uk/wireless-leaky-feeder-cable-cmc-50.htm Think of it like a hose with pin-holes in it leaking signal along its length, making it ideal for hotel corridors etc. (I've never actually had the opportunity to use it though.)
