Hi  I was sent one of virgins new super hubs ,which actual are absolute
rubbish Iam now on my forth one due to to malfunctions on the others I
should have stuck with the old system, any way I digress what I need to
know is can a router be turned in to repeater as the range on the hub is
11ft  in front of hub I can get 26 mb up stairs I get .25 of a mb.
The super hub is a modem and router in one ,I tried turning off the router
and using it as a modem only and connecting the new router to increase
range but all it did was give me wireless but no ethernet connection
The virgin hub is a netgear 300n
Software Version    "R36"
Hardware Version    2.00
Any ideas greatly received
Gary

I must see if I made any notes on how I reconfigured the VM box. If I did then they will be lying around here somewhere and so I shall go hunting.

In the meantime it certainly looks as though I turned off routing as my IPCop box has an 82.x.x.x address from Virgin, if it has got an address from the VM box then it would have been one of the private ranges.

The other change I made was to turn off the WiFi. I feed a separate LAN from the IPCop firewall to a wireless access point via power networking adapters. The VM box and my firewall are upstairs, the wireless is used downstairs and so that is where the WAP is.
