Hi Gary. The new site does look good, you've obviously done a lot more work than just updating the Joomla version.
As I stated before, although I'm the guy who "manages" the mailing list, and have the accolade of being subscribed to the lumaster list, Peterborough LUG doesn't have a lugmaster as such and my views don't carry any more weight that anyone else's. However, for what my view is worth, I think the new site is great and you get the job, especially given the very short queue of other candidates!
My only concern is that it's hosted on your private host, and this presents a problem if you disappear for some reason - and unfortunately this does happen. I say this speaking as one who was once very active and is now hardly present, but also as a member of the lugmaster list I get to see other LUG representatives asking for help because they no longer have access to a website set up by someone who has since drifted away from the club. (Please don't take this as a criticism of anyone in particular!) I do very much appreciate the efforts Gary has put into this and his generosity so please don't let my comments take anything away from that. It's just something I would suggest that the LUG discuss and try to resolve.
If it's possible within Gary's hosting arrangements for him to allow other people access then I would recommend that people take that option so that the site isn't just a one-man show, because that will help keep the site alive and help get more people looking at it. I know from experience that it's very easy to become complacent and just rely on Gary keeping the site up to date without ever looking at the site ourselves, which will be sole destroying for Gary if he's anything like me! The more people involved, the more the site will be "used".
I'll forward the link to lug.org.uk so it can be listed there (I don't see any reason to wait as the site is already much better than anything else we have).
In the meantime, I'd urge other subscribers to the list to give Gary some feedback. The site is at www.peterborough-lug.org.uk.
