Good one Paul. I hope this works (fingers crossed). Public services around the world have already gone Linux and saving loads as well as providing a reliable IT infrastructure. There was a recent news about a German mayor who talked about their reduction in costs and customer complaints since they have migrated to Linux. Then again UK has always been conservative about things like this. I presented this idea while working at a local council and was given the answer that the current software/OS licenses will cost less in the long run rather than implementing an open source solution, etc. I never got the explanation I requested. Just good ol' red tape. Cheerio!
