Slackware isn't really based on anything. It does not (or tries not to) patch
any programs, they believe the upstream developers know best. I.e the linux
kernel is exactly as it is released by the kernel developers. I.e kde is
exactly how the kde devs wanted it to be. It has had the same project leader
since day one, 18 years now. Anything you learn with slackware can usually be
used on any linux distro. I would recomend less xp'ed users to try it in a
virtual machine before using it as there everyday desktop. I also have an
official slackware book that anyone interested is welcome to borrow. Sorry for
lack of punctuation etc, this has been sent from my phone.

Thanks Gary.
Regards

Gary James
