Ah, I meant to add that: the install removed OpenOffice, they don't seem to want to live together.

For my purposes that was fine, but I had intended to warn people.

The (largely incorrect) instructions said you could install it in
parallel I found that broke OpenOffice quite badly and LibreOffice
didn't work either though I managed to patch LO up to work.

Clearly the advice is to proceed with caution!

There were bugs in OOo that I needed fixing and LibreOffice seemed the right way to go (the bugs were fixed in newer versions of OOo but either way it meant deviating from the repositories, and since Ubuntu 11.04 onwards will ditch OOo in favour of LO I thought I'd take the plunge).
