I've had very few upgrade problems, and I have done a lot of them, often 
to beta releases too.

I can't blame the upgrade for this one; pulling the power out midway 
through an install or upgrade you'd expect to break something! Of-course 
with a fresh install you'd just wipe and start again, whereas in this 
case it was worth a little effort to try and recover if I could. It was 
surprisingly straightforward in the end - and it really was *very* 
broken! I certainly didn't have the luxury of niceties like ethernet or 
GUIs when it broke!
