Steve, Its a bit harsh saying you find it hard to be a member of a group that defends a certain business model.
I think if you read it properly Mark was saying he still defends that model of business even though he woudl not choose such a model himself. Its like the old phrase, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," it means look whilst I dont like it, I defend it as a business model that works (albeit for the company profit margins and not for its clients). I too can see his point, but it doesnt mean I like companies that work in that way. I can just see why they do what they do. And likewise, whilst I disagree with what YOU say, I also defend YOUR right to say it, after all this user group is inclusive not exclusive, we do not recruit based on a single set of beleifs, just like our software, the community is based on freeness (is that a word) Free as in speech, and preferrably making free (and perhaps slurred) speech whilst drinking free as in beer. (hic) Everyone has their own opinions and you should at a minimum, just respect that opinion. You cannot enforce your way of thinking on others you can only share your thoughts and ideas. You should not feel it diffucult to be a member of this group - if you do maybe you need re-evaluate the concept of free speech and how this relates to the ethos of Linux and the community as a whole.
