Hello all,

Happy new year to you!

I have got cron working happily backing up my system as I have told it
to! Took me a while!!

However my machine is not on 24/7 which means that it is possible for
some of the backup not to happen for days if it misses the cron

I have been exploring anacron but am unsure how to use it.

The config file is in /etc/anacrontab

1. This file is owned by root. It will - I assume - therefore backup
my files but they will all have owner as root - correct?

2. How do I run anacron as me a user?

3. Or do I need to in fact? Is it OK to run it as root

4. My anacron line would be:

        1 15 backup.daily /home/edward/data/scripts/backupdata.script

Do I simply add this to the anacron file?

Thanks for your help

Ed
