Greetings to all,

I'm Brian Smith and I'm intending to come to the meeting tonight if that's
OK with you all.

Just a quick biog - I was an advisory teacher for ICT with Cambridgeshire
for 12 years, now semi-retired. Started with BBC Micros, then to
A3000/Archimedes before the whole world went PC. Now a reasonably competent
user of XP. Very tempted to "Go Apple" but love the Open Source movement in
principle.

I tried to install Ubuntu on a W98 Dell laptop and failed (black screen
after the installation process - graphics driver error?? But how do you deal
with driver issues in Linux?)

I've also bought a Linux Asus eeePC which is an amazing little device. If
you have a spare five minutes and fancy a read, the eeePC is possibly for my
granddaughter and the logic is all at
http://communities.naace.co.uk/bsmith/weblog/709.html under the title "One
Laptop per Child".

My own website is very out of date but you can see me at
http://www.briansmithonline.com/

Middleton School at 7.30. Is that right? And how long do you usually stay?

Hope to meet you tonight.

Brian Smith

Stamford
