Good afternoon Joshua. I would get a conservator to contact David Nash and see
if Two Columns was ever treated with Boracare or any other borate treatment and
if so what type and when. Are these on loan or in your permanent collection? A
liquid treatment in the dirt under the black river stone will afford you years
of protection from termites but will do nothing to protect it from powder post
beetle or other wood destroying insects. Boracare would give you a low toxicity
residual treatment (fairly inexpensive) that will hold up for a few years even
in the weather Timbor will not as much as it will not get deep into the cells
of the wood as well.

Subject: [PestList] Termite preventative pest control and inspection

[CAUTION: This message originated from outside the Foundation. Do not click

Good day all!

Our museum has several wooden art pieces that are located outside on our
grounds. We are having trouble locating a pest control contractor that will
take on the work to do preventative termite treatment around the pieces and
routine visual inspections of termite activity.

Has anyone else had issues with finding vendors for such work?

Best,

Joshua Thomsen
