Rachel, As a pesticide safety educator, I just want to point out that diatomaceous earth isn't "non-toxic." Be sure to read the label precautions regarding eye and inhalation exposure.

I appreciate your comments. It seems like a good, non-toxic tool, and I've used it the past couple of months with some potentially optimistic results.
