Hi all,

We had a brief bat problem many years ago and the director at the time stopped
trapping to prevent them getting stuck. Since reinstituting IPM I use hardware
cloth, cut and bent around the trap. It doesn’t seem to have affected our
overall counts in each trap or the type of insects we trap but it does keep
bats out…though I have not seen them in the museum either. I presume it would
work for geckos although note it doesn't cover the window at the front or back.

Best,
Katy

Subject: [PestList] Re: Geckos

Hello!

This product has been recommended on the pestlist, but I have not used them
before: https://llfa.eu/af-insect-monitor-traps.html

Depending on the kind of monitors you use, for the triangle shaped Trapper pest
monitors (https://www.insectslimited.com/store/p/trapper-insect-monitor) you
can add a thick piece of paper as a "door" with tape hinges to block the
geckos. The paper door can be cut to fit the triangular opening and leave a
small gap for pest insects. I am attaching a little example drawing of what I
am talking about.

If anyone else has advice or suggested products to keep out non-target pests, I
would love to know about them too!

Best,
Katey

Hi, everybody

I saw geckos in several traps in the library where I've been doing the
monitoring since May.

I'm wondering if there is a way to avoid entering geckos or is there any type
of trap which the gecko can't enter?

I appreciate you kindly advise.
