Hi Jasmine,
You definitely have a problem. Is it possible to get some closeups? Are these
taxidermies in the open or in cases? This information would help to identify
the problem.

Good luck
Gretchen

Subject: [PestList] Anyone have ideas on what could be damaging these taxidermy
mounts?

Hello there,

I visited a collection recently for the first time that generally does not have
a lot of individuals overseeing the materials. They have some taxidermy bird
mounts that have been losing a lot of feathers over the past few years. I
found some lovely little beds within the same space using the feathers and lots
of droppings and urine, but I don't know if the mice are actually removing the
feathers (vs. seizing the opportunity to cushion up their beds for the night),
if the feathers are naturally falling, or if another pest is causing the
destruction.

The pictures are not great (no lighting in the space), but I am wondering if in
looking at these if anyone has any insight. I greatly appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Jasmine
