Hey Patricia, Thanks for getting back to me! I actually think you're right
about it being a hairy fungus beetle! The antennae are spot on. It was found on
a trap behind a large sculpture, in a room that has exterior walls with
landscaping, so it probably just made its way in through a crack.

The moth I am just counting as a house moth for now. I'll keep a close watch on
that space though!

Subject: Re: [PestList] Mystery Moth & Drugstore Beetle

Drugstore beetle antennal club segments are more elongated and oval than what I
see in the picture. They also have rows of striations/ pits in the elytra.
Might be a hairy fungus beetle based on what I see. Where was it found?

On the moth, I'm not sure based on the photo. A better picture or the actual
specimen would help confirm ID. Commercial pheromone traps can sometimes be
helpful in sorting species based on whether they are attracted to the lure or
not.

Hello all,

I was hoping for some second opinions. I believe the beetle in the attached
image is a drugstore beetle, can anyone confirm this? He measures about 2.5mm.
The next image is a moth. I think it could be a house moth, but I also worry
it's a clothes moth. Any help with positive identification is appreciated.
Thank you!
